Objective
Have the majority of Sages in the Timeline once it's full.
Setup
You vs AI. Shared deck. Each player starts with 3 cards.
- A Sage card is a card depicting a figure from one of these eras: Tanna, Amora, Gaon, Rishon, or Acharon.
- Tanach cards perform special actions when used
Each player has a Beit Midrash grid (3 slots). The Timeline grid (5 slots) is shared by both you and the AI. Each Timeline slot is for one of each of the above-mentioned eras
Game Loop - Each turn you perform 2 Actions. Actions are one of:
- Place a card in the Timeline
- Place a Sage card on the Beit Midrash (BM)
- Challenge an opponent's card
- Draw a card
Place Sage cards in the Beit Midrash (up to 3). Each Sage in your BM gives you 1 Merit per turn.
Challenges
You can use one of your own Sage cards—either from your hand or Beit Midrash (BM)—to challenge a Sage card in your opponent’s BM.
If your Sage is from an earlier era (i.e. a higher era number), you win the challenge and earn Merits equal to the difference between the two era values.
-
If the eras are the same, it's a draw—no Merits are awarded.
-
If your Sage is from a later era, no Merits are earned.
Example:
-
A Tanna (Era 5) challenges an Amora (Era 4) → Tanna earns 1 Merit (5 - 4 = 1).
-
A Tanna (Era 5) challenges another Tanna (Era 5) → Draw, 0 Merits awarded.
In all cases, both cards are put in the discard pile after a challenge is complete.
Replace Timeline Sages
You can replace an AI card in the Timeline if your Beit Midrash has 3 cards in it and one of those cards matches the era of the card you want to replace. Click a card in your Beit Midrash to see if the Timeline option is available, and you can use that card to replace the AI's card in the Timeline.
Drawing Cards
Click the deck to draw a card. Once all cards are drawn from the deck, the Olam Haba (discard) pile is shuffled and becomes the new deck.
You gain a random Tanach card once every 6 turns.
Tanach Cards
Tanach cards cost no action. Click a Tanach card to use it. Nothing will happen if you cannot play the card.
